Tatar language, as the state language of the Republic of Tatarstan and the native language of millions of people in Tatarstan, Russia and around the world, has long been represented in information technology. More and more people want to use their native language when working with modern software applications to solve their problems more effectively.

In order to make this possible, localization is used, It is a special kind of translation tied with adaptation of text to the cultural context of people or region into whose language the translation is made. Localization of software usually refers to the development of special programs (called drivers) that provide typing, editing and printing of texts in the target language, as well as the translation and adaptation of interface elements, reference and auxiliary files, documentation. The problem of Tatar localization is of great importance for more than five million Tatars living in Russian Federation, as well as for large foreign diasporas.

The Tatsoft project is designed for everyone who is interested in usage of the Tatar language in modern information and communication technologies. The main objective of the project is to provide information about software, computer and mobile devices localization, as well as links to web resources for Tatar language. This gives millions of Tatars around the world the opportunity to use modern information and communication technologies with their native language in a unified information field and standards.
