V.V. Markovnikov International Prize 2022  for outstanding contributions to organic chemistry 26.01.2022

Vladimir Markovnikov is the outstanding representative of the Kazan Chemical School, the one of the founders of the principles of the mutual influence of atoms in organic molecules, who in 1869 in the walls of Kazan University formulated and proved one of the key rules of modern organic chemistry. It is the famous rule on the regioselectivity of electrophilic addition to unsaturated compounds, which has entered the science to such an extent that it is designated only by the first letter of the author's surname - "M".

The International Prize named after V.V. Markovnikov for outstanding contribution to the field of organic chemistry was established by Decree of the President of the Tatarstan Republic Nо. UP-453 ofJuly 25, 2020. It is awarded every two years starting from 2020.

According to the Decree the State authorities, Russian, foreign and international scientific organizations, institutions of higher education and other organizations, Russian and foreign scientists, as well as laureates of the V.V. Markovnikov prize have the right to nominate applicants for the International Markovnikov Prize. The nomination deadline is April 15, 2022.

The documents on the nomination of a candidate includes a justification certificate (in any form), and for organizations additionally - the decision of the organization's authorized body on nomination. Nomination materials must be sent no later than April 15, 2022 to the Secretary of the Committee Solovieva Svetlana Evgenievna in electronic form at the address: svsol@iopc.ru.
